And This Little Pig said Painted Lady

So when I went home to the farm last weekend with Kalypso, we were introduced to a new addition. This is Toggalong Painted Lady, born on Mum's birthday.
Look at those divine long ears, which are a breed feature of Anglo Nubians
This was PL's first day out in the sun, four days old, after about ten minutes she got the hang of running...
... Well sort of, she also got very good at falling down and taking a rest.

Cow-Day-Wednesday tomorrow, no I won't forget.

See you next time... LiBBiE in Oz

And This Little Pig said Life and an iPhone

Well how's your life been lately? This about sums mine up. Came back from the yards on Wednesday (sorry no CowDay photos) and the boss says, 'I've got some bad news for you, I broke your coffee cup.' My fav coffee mug! Brought if a couple of years ago. Do you know how hard it is to get a blue reindeer coffee mug at Christmas? And it was perfect, just the right curve on the lip. Well it's gone... maybe not, thinking of gluing it back together and putting it on the bosses bookshelf :@
No life hasn't been that hard really, just very busy, and with the tax time upon us in Australia, life is insane, but look at this pretty photo, Cotton Field taken with iPhone, while driving, no I wasn't the driver.
Mistress Splinter, yes that is her name giving her Indian Runner Duck impersonation. Splint was one of quins, yep 5, the only girl, and she was like a little splinter of wood.
Coming to work yesterday morning, lovely old vintage car, and American, as we sit on the right when driving.
Haven't seen much of the Long Dogs lately, have photos just haven't put them up. L to R Evie, Podge and Quincy. In their bed, enjoying the winter sun.
Quincy
Evie and Podge, mother and daughter, they look so alike these days, thankfully Podge is more cream than tan, she has also lost all that white that was on her chest.
Never in a million years would I have got this shot if I was trying to!

Well there you go, a very quick update, all photos with the wonders of iPhone :@ No stitching, looks like it's gonna be a busy lead up to Christmas, only have three, no could be four finishes for my Crazy, and have touched my big piece since I started it in January... Ouch.

Seeya soon... LiBBiE in Oz (fingers crossed)

And This Little Pig said Goats Ducks & Sunrise

Remember our little Magic Trick at Christmas the miracle birth, or the virgin birth, well she finally has a name Madge.
Hasn't she grown, now 10 weeks old.
So if you haven't gathered, I had to go home to the family farm for the weekend, so here are some photos, firstly sunrise.
Some Muscovy ducklings, whites, blues, lavenders and chocolates.
Indian Runners with their grown up ducklings, pruning the orchard and some weeds.
Now you see me
Now you don't
Very much an oops, either that or it is the ghost of duck past.

So had a busy weekend with no stitching, no sewing and no blogging, but is Cow-Day-Wednesday tomorrow, and I hope to get some good photos if the cows co-operate.

Thanks to everyone who commented on my last post, sorry I have not replied to everyone, will do better next time.

Also have taken off the new blogger word verification, a lot of people seem to be having problems. If I get spam, which I did get once, I will have to go to modified posts.

Catch you all later... LiBBiE in Oz

And This Little Pig said No Stitching Weekend

Firstly I have had no internet since Friday night, currently on my laptop with limited wireless, so will have to report first thing Monday morning, but thanks to my very good friend Sue I have been kept very busy to really notice and have had a weekend of absolutely no stitching. None. Nothing. Nada! And I am completely exhausted.
Weekend started Friday night, when I went out to Sue’s to check one of her beef cows, too much milk for her calf. Ever tried to milk an eight year old beef cow? No? Well she was excellent, didn’t move, didn’t kick, brilliant. Not so brilliant mastitis in one quarter, so milked out as much as we could, and decided course of treatment, which meant a trip to the Vet’s on Saturday morning. Out again to Sue’s milked as much as we could, inserted (lovely tech word there) some ‘dry cow’ up her teat to help treat the mastitis, then three injections later ‘Pretty Face’ was starting to feel like a pin cushion.

So while there I was like better bring Polly in as well, her calf isn’t touching that front quarter either. Polly is only three, and again she was a little trouper, even milked her into a bucket. Went back again this morning, and milked her again, just to keep on top of it, her heifer calf is only four days old, and of course silly me forgot the camera. She is such a little sweetie.
Gourmet Popcorn - Yes I know it's sideways... tomorrow, I'll fix tomorow

Now why was my weekend so exhausting, because Sue and I attacked the Wilderness! And I am happy to say it is no more. All my bins are full and the neighhours offered me their trailer as they were going to the dump, and we filled it too. Still more to rake up, but at least I can see all the fences and hopefully deter any snakes that thought my yard was a good place to hang out. No photos of non-wilderness, maybe tomorrow.
Gerainium

But I did take time out to photograph some of my roses, the first two roses are the same flower, a Delbard (French rose) France Libre, taken with sun shining directly on the rose. No adjustments to the photo, that is it, nearly incandescent. The next one is taken right on dusk, no flash, again no adjustments to photo. The other roses have their names under them.

I did say my weekend was busy, Dad came down today to pick up ‘Alan’ the cow, he dropped me off some goat manure for the roses, and another visitor for me to take care of for a couple of hours, until his new owners came to pick him up… Lando, and he is a boy.
Laying on the ground, looking up, he was such a good boy, he had just had his bottle.
Being inquisitive, in other words trying to stare down the camera.
Strange photo I know, but I couldn't resist, half his face was blurred, so cropped out the blurry bit.
And a very unique way of looking at the carport and pot plants.
Lastly it was a beautiful weekend, just look at that sky. Gonna be a hot summer, if this weekend is anything to go by. I'm exhausted the dogs are exhausted, they are in bed, and I'm heading off there right now. So good night, or good morning, and seeya soon.

And This Little Pig said Stitching Update

Yes I know I said I was doing a stitching update, but I was home last weekend, helping Mum and Dad, and most importantly taking photos of Anglo Nubian kids to be sold overseas. We are very excited this is our first 'private' export, there are two adult does, and their three kids, along with another three kids. So here is Mum doing a bit of 'spit and polish' on one of the girls. (Pssst don't tell Mum I put her photo up :)
My progress on Gracewood Stitches Northern Nights, over halfway. I have altered this a little, I've used 4 blues, 3 golds, and 3 greens, and also left out three bigger bands, and changed around some of the smaller separation bands, but I do like how it is going. Here's hoping I don't get to the end and think... ohh maybe I should have...
County Cottage Needleworks Pumpkin Cottage, all framed.
Little House Needleworks Pumpkin Hollow Farm, back from the framers as well. I received a 2nd with this at my local Ag show, and Highly Commended for Pumpkin Cottage, very please all round.

Seeya soon... LiBBiE in Oz :@

And This Little Pig said Some Goat Photos

You know my blog is about stitching mainly, but with everything going on, I have had very little time to do so, Mum is off to the Doctors tomorrow and she is feeling much better every day.

Anyway as my profile says, Mum has been breeding Dairy Goats for over 30 years, so I took the opportunity last week to take some more candid photos.

The breeding season is about to start here, so there is a lot of sparring and fighting going on among the does. This Shay Luisa, the upcoming breeding season will her second kidding. Here's hoping this year will be better than last year. Can you believe she had C-section just under four and a half months ago.
Luisa was putting on quite a display. The head butts just make you shudder with the force that they hit.
Shaylarna, is Shay Luisa's younger half sister, this will be her first year breeding. We don't breed our young does until they are 15-18 months, so they kid for the first time around two years of age.
The girls get molasses every morning, and it is a real mob scene, it's all frothy and looks like very big buckets of cappuccino.
This is my Shaylina, she is a very colourful girl, and is recovering from a very nasty case of mastitis, her show career will be over, but she will live on to breed for us.
The girls out for a graze, they are from left to right Shaleah, Sailah, Shaylarna, Ethena (white goat), Shyla, Shaylina, and one of the Saanen goatling it's either Cyerra or Callie. Sorry can't tell from the rear view :D
The boys said, don't forget us. This is Ted, he is usually lovely and snowy white, but... well don't ask... breeding season. Oh and they are rather smelly.
Ted giving a profile shot of his beautiful beard.
Ted's son from our beloved Jenny, this was her last gift to us, his name is Connery S or Sean. He is only six months old, don't you just love his forelock, and the beginning of a beard.
Last but not least a silhouette of the Old Man of the shed, Luis. That is not a beard but a dewlap, a breed feature. We sold Luis three years ago, and part of the deal was that if he was ever offered for sale that we had first right of refusal, image our surprise 12 months ago, when a good friend of ours rang to say he has just brought him, and could we pick him up from a show we were attending. Thankfully he allowed Luis to remain with us :D
Puppy update... they are not happy with me, tonight was worming night, I am definitely not there favourite human :(
