 DUCKLINGS!!!

 Hatched this morning.

 Not sure if the other six eggs will hatch.

Mum and Dad are called Max and Millie, they are white Call Ducks (bantam/small ducks).

Tomorrow there will be puppy photos.

And This Little Pig said Guinea Fowl

Ah Guinea Fowl, you ask, what is a Guinea Fowl? Well this is a Guinea Fowl keet or chicken.

We have never had Guinea Fowl this light before, and white Guinea's are very rare in Australia. So what do you think blonde or pale chocolate?

A couple of younger keets from a different hatching, can't wait until they feather up, with fingers crossed.

Just what are you two up to? Yes yes I have white feathers on my wing, big deal! Well my little soon to have more feathers it is a bit deal.

Some more ducks, Welsh Harlequin's, this is momma duck, and on Christmas Eve just past she went very close to giving her life for her duckling (below) when a fox came to visit, and she (the fox was a female) managed to get her snot through the mesh, and snatch a piece of skin and feathers measuring 2 x 3" off her breast. It was very nasty, you could actually see her insides moving. The piece missing was too large to stitch, so we moved her, hubby and the ducklings (12) to an inside pen, sprayed with wound spray, and prayed... a lot. I couldn't get her to face me, but you really wouldn't even know what had happened, she has a very small dent, but that is it. Oh and that is hubby hiding behind her :@  and one of the ducklings.

Well I've educated you all enough for tonight :@ No stitching today, busy doing the month end. Maybe tomorrow, I really want to finish LHN Silent Night. Oh and posts three days in a row, whoa :@

And This Little Pig said Goats Ducks & Sunrise

Remember our little Magic Trick at Christmas the miracle birth, or the virgin birth, well she finally has a name Madge.

Hasn't she grown, now 10 weeks old.

So if you haven't gathered, I had to go home to the family farm for the weekend, so here are some photos, firstly sunrise.

Very much an oops, either that or it is the ghost of duck past.

So had a busy weekend with no stitching, no sewing and no blogging, but is Cow-Day-Wednesday tomorrow, and I hope to get some good photos if the cows co-operate.

And This Little Pig said Cow-Day-Wednesday

Well the first Cow-Day-Wednesday for 2012, and today was the hottest day of summer so far, 39-40C (102-104F), and I forgot my camera, so photos of cows from Christmas at home, with a few more farm photos.

Remember last year, I brought a jersey cow for Mum, well Dad paid for her, and I hadn't taken a photo. Well this is Alan :@ and she has put on weight, the bonus, we think she is in calf.

Alan has settled in really well, and she has been a real find, a lovely quiet girl. It took a couple of weeks for her lose the dairy herd mentality, and would follow Mum everywhere... then the old Jersey Miss calved and came up to the house paddock to feed calves, and Alan is now in Jersey cow heaven, she just loves the old girl.

The old girl... Miss will be 10 this year.

Miss' Lowline calf Ferrari, he loves doing fast laps around the paddock, he was hiding behind a 'big' bush so I couldn't see him.

The Chinese Geese had excess eggs this year, so Mum set some under the blue muscovy duck and she hatched out three gosling.

They are beyond cute, and nearly impossible to photograph, as she kept getting between me an 'her' babies.

Have started the 2012 Crazy January Challenge, right on schedule and started Day 4 today, will take piccies tomorrow.

And This Little Pig said Farm Day 2

Well it has been an eventful day, we finally got down to kidding. Shaleah who is our Junior Champion All Breed Doe from the Sydney Royal Easter Show 2009.

This is Shaleah's 2nd kidding, we were unable to show her last year, as she came down with a 'Bells Palsy' which is like a stroke, and she lost all function on one side of her face, as well as the sight in that eye. It took her a good three to four months to get over this, and she is now totally back to normal. Sight and all thank goodness.

Anyway she had two big beautiful buck kids. I only photographed the first boy, as the last boy was a long time being born, and we had to go in and 'get' him. So he is not a well boy tonight. Both were breech presentation, so the last boy has a lot of mucus. We actually thought he had been born dead.

Both boys are tucked up nice and warm in our kid room, we hand raise all our kids, so hopefully in the morning I will be able to take photos of a much brighter boy.

And This Little Pig said Farm Day 1

Okay it's not day one, but day two.

I did not arrive until 5pm yesterday, and it was nearly dark, so that does not count.

I made up for it today!

Had a great day, went shopping with my cousin, we had a wonderful time, coffee, lovely piece of carrot cake, with icing to die for! Brought myself a nifty new travel mug made my Maxwell Williams, it's a double walled mug, ceramic called... coffee*to*go Great rubber lid in lime green, must remember to take a photo.

The pups have grown, and are very, very active, don't worry I took a few photos today... well 157 photos :)

Does have not officially started kidding, although one young goatling (1st kidder) went 12 days early with twin bucks, which did not survive. But Cee Dee is milking   very well, and we are very pleased, she is the spitting image of her dead grandmother.

Well onto the pictures, don't worry there are not 157. Cee Dee is first, she is a Saanen doe.

Shenika, Anglo Nubian, 1st kidder, due at the end of the month.

Shenika's older sister Shyla, a truly beautiful doe, a big milk producer, she is not due until Sept 22. And yes wouldn't you know it, there is one in every crowd, that is my Shyandra hamming it up in the background, this will more than likely be her last kidding. Pray for does.

WIDE LOAD! Shaylah, she had quads last year, looks like she will do the same this year, she is due on the 18th.

Shaylina, you know there are some days you just need a helping hand or rock to reach that itch, especially when you are pregnant.

And some days you have and itch in a very unusual place, I watch Shaylarna do this three or four times, it took me a while to work out what she was doing. I thought it must be some new goat yoga, I didn't know about. 

Our Welsh Harlequin ducks, a very pretty little breed, she is sitting on around 12 eggs, and he did not like me taking photos at all.

Our beautiful blue muscovy ducks, such soft girls, a new drake came for them this afternoon, not sure they were too impressed.

Polish bantam rooster, he was so much fun, he kept 'looking' at me.

With his hens, they are such a docile little chook.

Some Chinese Silkies, we have had this little black hen for about three years now, she was very poor, and had bad leg mites. We call her Mother of Many! She has been a great little bird.
