And This Little Pig said Holiday Post 3 and Cow-Day-Wednesday

Ok it's CowDay Wednesday, and yes I managed to take some cow photos, say hello to some Tasmanian Cows!
Now today is my birthday, or at least for the next hour-ish, so for my birthday, I wanted to go to Cradle Mountain Lodge, and hopefully see snow, we stopped for lunch on the way at a lovely little town called Sheffield which is known for it's street murals. I went off to the toilet, and when I came back my dear cousin Lynda, had everyone in the pub sing me happy birthday.

Well Lynda, you know what they say, Payback in a… doesn't she look lovely with this pink plaid polar fleece shirt!
This is one of the photos of our cabin, George in front of the fire. George say's no more red wine by the way, and yes he is old enough to drink, and no drinking and driving.
The drive was beautiful, and I saw snow for the first time, it is amazing, the higher we got the more snow we saw… funny that :D

We found snow amazing, and really not all that cold, we built our first snowman.
Snow goat…
Even got Mum to come out and have her photo taken in the snow and with the snow goat.
Then we started tracking the wildlife of cradle mountain, this is me tracking 'Lynda'
And then we found footprints of a potoroo.
Then we had this cute little kangaroo, come out to meet us.
Followed by his friend the crow.
On the way back from dinner, which was superb, I forgot my camera, so I will have to get the meal photos of Lynda, we found a wombat on the side of one of the walkways, so I ducked back and took some photos.
Took loads of photos today… over 200, and look forward to taking many more tomorrow. The moss and lichens growing on the trees, rocks, ground is amazing. So lots lots lots more photos to come.

Oh brought myself a fab pair of shoes today, will photograph later, they are divine.

And This Little Pig said Cow-Day-Wednesday

Yep Cow-Day-Wednesday, and I didn't take any cow photos at the yards today, but I dipped into some of my backup photos :D

Mr Willy Wagtail, in close-up.
And from a reasonable distance.
A couple of weeks ago, when I was out at the dairy photographing the calves, you remember Phantom of the Opera, I was lucky enough to get some captures of White Cockatoo's or should I say Sulphur Crested Cockatoo's in the wild. Pity it was an overcast day.
And the photos I did take today, I found these little fungi/toadstools, growing in a crack in a log. Love the differing angles of light.
Lastly little fungi/toadstool casts a bit shadow.

And This Little Pig said Cow-Day-Wednesday + Aussie Wildlife

Hi all, yes I am still in the land of the living, I'm sure you all know what it is like, time gets away from you. You check in and say 'oh must post' and the moment passes. Well today is Cow-Day-Wednesday and I have been more than slack lately, and no I didn't get any shots today...

But a couple of weekends ago I had to feed the bosses dog while he was away, funnily I didn't get any photos the pup, but I know I took a couple when he was young, I will dig it out and show you all at another time.

I digress there are cows on the drive into house, so I thought I must grab a couple of photos to have in reserve, and wouldn't you know it, a couple of photos was all I took.
Now there was also these grand old men standing in the paddock, they stood up posing nicely for their portrait.
Now the real reason I had a camera with me, I have never failed to see kangaroos on the drive in, well on the first morning there were none, I couldn't believe it... but when I drove into the house yard...
On the move.
Before stopping to check where I was, on her toes and ready to go, see how they use their tails for balance.
The next afternoon, there was a small mob of five or six off to my right as I drove in, by the time I had my camera out the head roo, a buck, had decided he was out of there, and took flight. Love this shot.
Another three soon decided to follow, the lead doe, on the left, went first, how do I know this was a doe, well if you look really close you can just see the head of a joey sticking out of her pouch.
Off after their man.
To finally cross the road in front of me, with the young juvenile, bring up the rear.
So there you go, more of a Wildlife Wednesday, than a Cow-Day.

Oh little or no stitching done recently, but I have done a bit of knitting, getting ready for winter. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

And This Little Pig said Puppies & Photos

The puppies are getting big, and way more active, they will be six weeks this coming Sunday. That is Podge on the left, I know I am well and truly hooked!

We go get our first needles on Saturday. Can you see the boy practicing his 'OUCH!'
This young galah was wondering round the yard yesterday afternoon.
And while hanging clothes out tonight, I say this guy sitting on the fence.
I thought I was getting pretty lucky, that maybe it was the late afternoon light, that had him sitting so still... but no he was a little bit too still, and a little stiff. I don't know know what happened, there is not a mark on him.
Next post will have cross stitch, I promise... Nite LiBBiE in Oz

And This Little Pig said Bright Sunny Day

What a beautiful winters day, haven't heard that one on a Wednesday in awhile.

You can tell spring is coming, as there is a green pick in the paddock next to the saleyards, and the kangaroos just love it. They where about 30-40 metres away, around 120-150 feet, a family group grazing together. The yards is only 5 kilometers to the centre of town. Sorry I only had my little camera with me.
As I was saying, while it was chilly today, it was beautiful in the sun, so much so, that this vealer was saying... The futures so bright, I gotta wear shades. I think the sun was just a little bright.
Time to give the cows some airplay, nothing like a jersey, they have such a soft eye, to go with their soft natures.
Can't ignore the beef cows either.

And This Little Pig said Updates All Round

Just a general update. Le Tour de Pig is finish, all backstitching done, have started another le Pig.
Actually started my major work (wip1) still a mystery, started the first colour.
An early Spring is on the cards, while doing yard work last weekend, I was lucky enough to catch these parrots--Eastern Rosella's--checking out this old down pipe next door as a nesting box.
I had a chat with the male, told him this probably wasn't the best place to nest that I didn't think the babies would be able to get out. I do believe they have taken noticed, as they have not been back. Which is a disappointment in one way, but a hollow log is a better option.
Okay you must be getting sick of my roses, but I left the Camille Pissarro flower until this last weekend to finally prune, love the way the stamens dry off.
My Gourmet Popcorn continues to flower, has all winter.
Day out on Sunday, belated birthday lunch with friends at a local nursery, their cafe is divine, we were lucky to get a table, forgot to ring ahead and reserve. Lovely sitting just in the sun and right next to an outdoor gas heater. Was very restrained, I only brought one new rose, but that was only because I couldn't find the other two I was looking for... purchased a Delbard, France Libre, very appropriate considering my love of the Tour de France. I can't wait for it to flower.
