AndThisLittlePig said Timberrr

A little over three weeks ago, one of the big gum trees (Eucalyptus) in my back yard dropped a big limb onto my back fence, which was just well... it could have been worse the fence is due to be replaced in the next couple of weeks, so not really too big a deal, until I had a couple of 'tree' men look at them with the view to taking them down.

This was when things went down hill. The bigger one had a crack, so today was the day they both came down.
My big trees today in the early morning light, from the neighbours front gate.
The one on the right is the 'bad' tree, close to 80 feet, and yes if it had come down, it would have hit my home or worse still the neighbours, right over their bedrooms.
This is just before I had gone to work, they had been at it about an hour.
Believe it or not as solid as this looks, the top was quite rotten. TM (tree man) 'One of the most frightening trees he had ever been up.'
Photo from my lovely neightbour T, took about four hours to take out the top of the tree.
Missed photographing timber by mere seconds. Never realised the second tree actually leaned towards T's house.
Hard Work
Both Gone
All that remained when I returned home.

Still have to have the stumps ground out, on the upside firewood for winter, downside, there goes all the afternoon shade from my yard, and as much as I loved these trees they had become dangerous, and they took all of the moisture out of the ground, so will be able to have a lawn and a nice vege garden.

So until next time... Libbie :@

AndThisLittlePig said Quilts and Puppies

So I've finished the top of my RLB baby quilt, finished it last night actually, tomorrow it is off to be quilted, I'm really happy with it, photo not that great snapped quickly this morning, and only a small corner section.
Where would a post go (my third for 2014 and already posted as much as I posted in 2013) without puppies photos.
I've named my chocolate girl, well it's sticking at the moment.
Meet Harriett... my cousins Long Dog had pups on Australia Day, one of each I told her to call them Harriett and Ozzie, and she said no more like Matilda and Aussie, and it was like Bingo!

Quick post it was the 28th when I started this and now it is the 29th.

AndThisLittlePig said Dogs Pups Stash

So the time has come to introduce you to our new Long Dog... so this is Katie as she is today.
The scar on the bridge of her nose is not the only scar she carries.
This was the first photo we saw of Katie on the local pound's (shelter) facebook page, Mum said she had a kind... sad eye.
This is Mum's Scarlett, she had been visiting to help Katie settle in, as Katie lived with Mum for around three months.
I think Scarlett enjoyed her visit, she certainly loves 'pink bunny' it may have to go home with her :@
Puppy photos... do you know how hard it is to choose which photos to leave out. So a simple collage of group photos.
This is one of the black and tan girls, looks content doesn't she?
Little Chocolate girl... still considering Maude :@
So yesterday I went to pick up the girls bulk chicken necks and called in at craft store, this is for a young friends first baby, not due to June, and seeing as I don't know the sex had to be neutral. Have christen the quilt RLB. Going to be simple design, hope to start later tonight or as this is the Australia Day long weekend.

Oh Happy Australia Day!!! Nice quiet day with the girls.

Decided to give the blog a bit of a face lift. What do you think?

AndThisLittlePig said New Year New Hope

Hey I'm back... well I hope I am... going to try anyway.

So 2013 the year that was, and is never to be repeated.

So a recap, little or no stitching, the mojo just wasn't there, any stitching will be a big improvement on last year.

April was the month of the big dog fight, in which Meah came of second, third, fourth and fifth best, that's how many drains she had in.

August will never be look on again in the same way, after loosing Evie, Podge and Ava.

November wasn't ready to let Meah off without another major medical event. In brief I came home late from work one evening to find her with a very swollen eye, I suspected an infection, so gave her some pain killers left over from her fight, and took her to the Vets early the next morning.

Well my Meah likes to be different glaucoma, only I could have a dog who at five and half has glaucoma, there were really no options but to remove the eye. So Meah who is also called Moo is now also called The Pirate Ahhh :@
No gory photos we had enough of them last time, but I will say she came through it with flying colours.
No. No photos please.
Yes that is blue in the other eye, she will go blind, and I have already made the decision that if her remaining eye "blows" than I will be letting her go. It sounds awful I know... dogs can live blind etc, and if she had a different personality/temperament it would be fine, but she just doesn't like other dogs, even when she had two perfectly good eyes, she is spoilt rotten and high strung. Every day is a blessing and I hope she is round for many years to come, to continue being spoilt.
So not all of 2013 was sh!t, it ended well on December 30 my beautiful Quincy whelped four beautiful puppies.
All girls, can you believe it! Their father Frank, is one of Evie's many sons, he is also Podge's younger brother, and little Ava's litter brother.
Quincy just loves them.
And they love her...
I can't pick a favourite, nor can I choose names, the chocolate girl will be staying and one of the black and tan girls as well, if I can ever decide... Little chocolate is more than likely going to be called Maude, until I change my mind again.

Want some lovely old-fashioned names, in a non-doggy way :@ And no Lilly/Milly/Tilly names, Quincy's first daughter who I kept ended up being christened Pippie, which I will admit in the end was just like calling her puppy, her litter sister was called Lilly by her new people, and her brother Billy. You can see where I am going.

There was one other addition to the household in 2013, a rescue Dachshund called Katie (Mum named her) she had a silly name and didn't answer to it anyway. Skin and bone, was surrender to the local pound (shelter) 9-10 months old for biting the children was the description. Well I ask you, if you were starving, and had 5 yes 5 kids at you all day you'd bite. Well she doesn't bite she just hadn't been taught not to, she was just treating the kids like puppies. I will get you a photo if I ever get her to sit still long, she is a very happy girl, and loves Pip... well unless there is food involved, but she is learning.

So turning over a new leaf, new year, puppies to watch grow and love, make time for stitching and try to just enjoy life each day at it comes.

So until next time... Libbie :@
